1 month old!

David turned 1 month old on October 3! It is hard to believe it has been a month since he was born. David weighs 10 pounds, 14 ounces, up almost 3 pounds from his birth weight of 8 pounds! David has accomplished all of the major milestones of a 1 month old, according to the baby books. He can:

*smile at us
*stare at and respond to faces
*follow faces and objects with his eyes
*lift head while on tummy, looks like a 45 degree angle or so
*respond to sounds
*make cooing or ooh and aah noises - even sounds like he is laughing some!
*clasp hands together (just noticed this on the 2nd!)

We are excited to see what the next month has in store!

Trip to Hickory/Lenoir

We went to Hickory and Lenoir the weekend of Oct. 1 to visit Aunt K and Uncle Mike and to attend one of my best friend's Brooke's baby shower! It was a great fall weekend in the foothills, and David got to see a lot of people. We enjoyed seeing K and Mike's house and walking around the property there. K and Mike were very helpful in playing and watching Baby David. We had fun going to Brooke's baby shower and seeing her cute baby bump - i.e. soon to be Baby Weston! Baby David is excited to meet Baby Weston in December.

David makes the cutest faces sometimes. Here he does the one eyebrowed look. I think he looks like a little peach in his peach outfit.

David's first bath!

We waited to give David his first real bath in the tub until after his umbilical cord stump fell off. It finally fell off on Sept. 28, so we gave David a bath the next day. He seemed to like it a lot! He liked to sit in his whale tub and seemed to like being in the water. He also liked his warm hooded bear towel!

David's expressions

David has become much more alert over the past 3 weeks! When I picked him up out of his crib the morning of Sept. 20, he had a huge smile on his face, and he has been very smiley lately. He is focusing more on faces and likes to look at people. He is becoming more vocal and makes a lot of baby noises and grunting noises. We like seeing all of his different expressions! He weighs 10 pounds, 1/2 ounce as of Sept. 25.

Aunt Anna came over and took some photos of Baby D! It is very difficult to get baby photos b/c it definitely depends on baby's mood...which has to correlate with the right lighting, etc. She did a great job though!
