Cute faces

David makes the cutest faces sometimes. Here he does the one eyebrowed look. I think he looks like a little peach in his peach outfit.

David's first bath!

We waited to give David his first real bath in the tub until after his umbilical cord stump fell off. It finally fell off on Sept. 28, so we gave David a bath the next day. He seemed to like it a lot! He liked to sit in his whale tub and seemed to like being in the water. He also liked his warm hooded bear towel!

Hanging out with David

Some of the best times are just hanging out with David!

David's expressions

David has become much more alert over the past 3 weeks! When I picked him up out of his crib the morning of Sept. 20, he had a huge smile on his face, and he has been very smiley lately. He is focusing more on faces and likes to look at people. He is becoming more vocal and makes a lot of baby noises and grunting noises. We like seeing all of his different expressions! He weighs 10 pounds, 1/2 ounce as of Sept. 25.

Close ups

Aunt Anna came over and took some photos of Baby D! It is very difficult to get baby photos b/c it definitely depends on baby's mood...which has to correlate with the right lighting, etc. She did a great job though!

Beach trip

David enjoyed his first beach trip! He visited both Holden and N. Myrtle. He got to see the mackerel his dad caught, and he got to meet great aunt Barbara and great uncle Andy who went to the SOS festival. He seemed to like walking in the baby bjorn at N. Myrtle. He even made a brief excursion to the pool in his carseat!

David's first tailgate!

David made an appearance at the State/Cincinnati game Thurs. night tailgate on Sept. 16. He wore an NC State onesie with the block S logo. It was pretty hot that evening, so David stayed in the shade where it was cool. David was good luck, as State went on to win the game!

Baby David comes home!

We brought David home on Labor Day, September 6th! My dad made a train sign for our yard to welcome his arrival home! David is doing very well at home. His first night here he didn't sleep much, but he has done much better since then.

David continues to grow and get cuter every day! He weighs 8 pounds, 6 ounces as of September 14th. He is a big eater and spends most of his day nursing. When he is not nursing, he is likely sleeping! He still has the dark hair he was born with, but it is gradually starting to fall out. We can't tell yet whether he will be blonde, redheaded, or brunette. We have taken him on several walks around the neighborhood and at Shelley Lake. We also made an excursion to the N.C. Museum of Art and walked him around the exhibits and trails. Lots more fun to come!

Baby David Is Here!!

David Allen Morgan made his big debut on September 3rd, 2010 at 2:37pm! He weighed 8 pounds and was 21 inches long. We are all very excited and are all doing well!

David was the result of a very long labor! I was originally scheduled to be induced starting on the evening of September 1st, but due to crowding at Rex Hospital, the induction was moved to the morning of September 2nd. Jake and I arrived at Rex the next morning, the 2nd, and got induced around noon. Labor continued throughout the day and night and until the next day. Around 2:00pm on the 3rd, it was determined that we would need a c-section delivery instead of a regular delivery. David was delivered by c-section at 2:37pm, about 26 hours after labor first began. This was 9 days after his due date of August 25th! David arrived safely, and we are all doing well!

David looks like a mini Jake! He was born with a good amount of brownish hair, blue eyes, and dimples.

Kimberly won the birth poll and was the only person who correctly predicted David's birth on the 3rd! She also tied with mom for closest guess on weight. In the hair category, which was somewhat subjective, she guessed that David would have "lots" of hair - we werent sure who would win this category, but since David's pediatrician said he had "a lot of hair" we will give this category to Kimberly too!

So far David is doing great! He is a big eater and likes to be held. I will continue to update this blog with notes and pictures as David grows!

Here we are at Week 41! It looks like we will be induced tomorrow, Sept. 2nd, so it's almost time to meet the baby! We will keep everyone posted. Thanks for all the comments and support!
